Many thanks to all our members who helped out in so many ways with the 15th Junior Open at LTC! It was an excellent Junior Open with a very high standard of tennis from all 268 participants! I was particularly happy to see 12 players from LTC entering – and delighted to see Sorcha Doyle from LTC win the U16’s Girls Plate!

In particular I want to thank:

  • John Hassett who set up the software package which ran so smoothly
  • Aoife & Afric Whelan in the shop along with help from Yvonne Coleman, Philo Hassett, Stephen O’Reilly, Orlaith Cagney, Claire Callaghan, Colette Carroll, Mairead O’Reilly, Ciara Whelan, Mary McGowan, Bernie Kealey, Caroline Molloy, Bridget Brophy, Jane Coyne and Maria Hickey.
  • Deirdre Hayden, Jackie Wallace, John Holmes, Gerry Cagney, George Aubrey, Alison Coyne, Dave Cooney, Orlaith Cagney, Michael Hassett and Alex Kelly who umpired matches.
  • Rosa Stephens at Leinster Branch for her excellent support
  • Dave Wilson, Peter Kelly, Jackie Wallace, David Hassett, Michael Hassett and Alex Kelly who supervised the U10 Round Robins
  • Deirdre Hayden who advised and helped regarding the shop & catering & services
  • Dave Cooney – our Tournament referee who arranged all the matches and dealt with queries 24 hours every day – with Grainne and 4 month old Pierce back from Kerry for Finals day
  • John Holmes – our Tournament Director who was the main organiser

Do take a look at the LTC website for photos of the LTC Junior Open!

And a special thanks to all the mothers and fathers who came disguised as managers, personal assistants, physiotherapists, counsellors, drivers – and offered their support and encouragement.

We look forward to seeing even more LTC Juniors involved next year!
